MWA offers a gas meter testing service for a huge range of meters. This valuable, independent service has proved extremely useful to our customers over the years, ensuring meters are serviced when they need to be, maximising the lifespan of the parts.
Our in-house testing rig features three reference meters, which we compare to, enabling us to gather accurate test data. This enables testing to incredible levels of accuracy – within 2% of actual flow rate. We are able to test meters with flow rate capacities from 1 to 650 cubic metres per hour, giving us scope to test the vast majority of meters in service.
You won’t be without
It is recommended that, in general, meters are tested every 10 years to ensure they remain fully functional, although this figure can vary based on the type of meter. MWA stocks a wide range of meters of every variety. This means we offer “loan” meters that can be used to bridge the gap whilst MWA tests, services and calibrates your meters.
Simple, reliable testing procedures
Our testing is designed to be simple and replicable to allow us to easily and accurately test gas meters, and assess whether they need servicing or replacing. Our 3-metered test rig tests for the minimum, nominal and maximum flow rates to test the meter at every delivery rate.
The streamlined testing procedure is as follows:
- The meter is attached to the testing rig and selected on the computer system
- Flow is enabled into the testing rig until the maximum expected figure is achieved and stable
- Procedure is repeated five times, making note of the readout figures
- Steps 2 and 3 are repeated for both the nominal and minimum flow figures
- With all data gathered, figures are compared to expected figures and recommendations are made based on the results
By undertaking this rigorous process, we can produce highly accurate figures within a 2% margin of error. This allows us to advise on whether your meter may need servicing, for example if seals are showing signs of degradation.
